This is our most iconic itinerary as it represents what our company is all about. During this tour, you will have the chance to not only visit all the parks of the northern safari circuit of Tanzania (including 2 nights in the Serengeti which is, for us, the ideal time frame) but also have fascinating cultural experiences in Lake Eyasi with the Hadzabe tribe.
DAY 1: ARRIVE
Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport or Arusha Airport, you will be met by a Mau Safaris transfer driver. You will be transferred to your lodge where the remainder of the day is spent at leisure.
Rest in your room, relax in the manicured gardens, enjoy a refreshing swim in the pool or explore Arusha and the surrounding areas on one of our day tours. The choice is yours.
Dinner and Overnight: Planet Lodge / Forest Hill Hotel Carnival
DAY 2&3: TARANGIRE NATIONAL PARK
You will depart Arusha in the morning and head to Tarangire National Park, arriving before midday.
Once in the park, you will be able to enjoy both a morning and afternoon game drive with a delicious lunch in the afternoon. In the early evening, after your game drive, you will return to your luxury Burunge Lodge / Sangaiwe Lodge for dinner & overnight.
DAY 4: LAKE MANYARA NATIONAL PARK
After Breakfast you will drive to Lake Manyara for a full day game drive. Stretching along the base of the Rift Valley escarpment, it is home to giant fig trees, acacia woodlands, mahogany trees and grassy flood plains.
The contrasts of this area are simply breathtaking with its open plains, huge escarpment, soda lake, dense woodlands and distant volcanic peaks. It comes together in an area best described by Ernest Hemingway as “the loveliest I had seen in Africa”.
Animals such as buffalo, wildebeest, giraffe, mongoose, dik dik and zebra herds congregate on the grassy plains while the acacia woodland is home to the legendary tree-climbing lions and tusked elephants.
Lake Manyara provides the perfect introduction to Tanzania’s bird life with more than 400 species being recorded. Highlights include thousands of pink-hued flamingos on their perpetual migration as well as other large waterbirds such as pelicans and storks. Late in the afternoon, you will return to Baghayo Suites / Marera view Hotel for Dinner and overnight.
DAY 5&6: CENTRAL SERENGETI
You can either have a relaxed breakfast and depart for full day game drives around 9:00 AM with packed lunch and return back to lodge late afternoon around 6:00 PM. Or you can depart at 6:00 AM on an early morning game drive. Later return to accommodation for breakfast and relax for a bit and depart on an afternoon game drive with packed lunch.
You will explore the central portion of the Serengeti National Park today. The legendary Serengeti National Park is the most renowned safari destination for its incredible population of lions and leopards.
The central portion of the Serengeti – known as Seronera area is one of the richest wildlife habitats in the park. It features the Seronera River, which provides a valuable water source to this area and therefore attracts wildlife well representative of most of the Serengeti’s species.
During the off season of the migration, one must really look out for the many lion pride that thrive in this region. The interactions and survival of these lion pride provide an excellent game viewing experience all year round.
Along with a picnic lunch during the full day game drive, the day will come to a close by around 5PM. The long day comes to an end with a heavy dinner and a good night’s rest in at Tanzania Bush Camp / Serengeti Pure Tented Camp.
