From a young
man's dream.
How a guide from Tabora built a growing Tanzanian safari company, one journey at a time.
Meet
Maulid.
Mau Africa Safaris was founded by Maulid, a Tanzanian from the area around Tabora in west-central Tanzania, home of the Sukuma, one of the country's largest ethnic groups.
From a young age Maulid knew he wanted to show his country to the world. He came to Arusha to study tourism, paying for his studies by selling chickens on the streets and markets of Arusha from his own small poultry business.
During his studies he deepened his knowledge of Tanzania's animals, nature and national parks. Afterwards he began organising safaris with local Tanzanians, sharing what he had learned and encouraging his community to love, care for and understand the parks.
Today Maulid welcomes travellers from around the world. As the company has grown, so have the opportunities it creates: more local jobs, more families supported, more children in education.
Karibu sana Tanzania.
