Southern Wilderness · Nyerere National Park

Nyerere: A river kingdom

A vast southern wilderness shaped by rivers, woodland and open landscapes, offering a different perspective on the Tanzanian safari.

Carved from the historic Selous Game Reserve, Nyerere is one of the largest protected areas in Africa. The Rufiji River and its oxbow lakes create a water world of hippos, crocodiles and spectacular birdlife.

Boat safaris and walking safaris are possible here as well as game drives, which makes it a perfect, very different add-on to a Zanzibar holiday.
