Continue through open moorland towards the higher slopes. The vegetation becomes increasingly sparse as the route crosses into the alpine environment. The day ends near Kikelelwa Cave.

Cross the broad Kibo Saddle towards Kibo Hut. The landscape becomes increasingly stark as you approach the summit zone. After arriving at camp, rest and prepare for the early morning summit attempt.
The summit attempt begins during the night. Climb towards Gilman's Point before continuing around the crater rim to Uhuru Peak. After reaching the summit, descend towards Horombo Hut for the night.
Continue the descent through the upper mountain landscapes, enjoying the changing scenery after the summit experience. The pace becomes easier as you move towards the lower slopes and prepare for the final descent.
